President’s Message

It is a great honor to be elected by my fellow council members as the President of the Association of Certified Accountants, Malaysia (ACA).  As the President, I have to give serious thoughts on my priorities for the Association.  Something special has to be done for the Association as it will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in the year 2020 which will be a memorable occasion.

I am cognizant that the Association has failed to get recognition from the Government for the past years. However, it does not mean that we cannot go forward. There are ways of making the Association to be great again. Currently we are the 3rd largest professional accounting association among the three professional accounting bodies in Malaysia and we are focusing on the SME sector, and will have the opportunity to grow exponentially to serve a wider market, and  that really makes us proud. We hope that with the large number of accounting professionals in the market, many of whom do not belong to any association we could reach out to them to make known to them of our existence, as we are able to help them grow professionally and individually.

We will endeavor to reach out to as many accounting professionals as possible, to form a big accounting society for the benefit of everyone and increase the accountability, capability and professionalism of accounting professionals in the accounting workforce.

There are so many accounting graduates from local and overseas universities, but only a small number of them qualify as chartered accountant. By joining our Association as certified members who are allowed to use the prestigious salutation of “Certified Accountant” to describe themselves, as provided in our Constitution which is approved by the Registrar of Societies, Malaysia.

It is time that we make our Association known to the public in Malaysia and to promote aggressively to increase our membership. All professionals involved in accounting work are encouraged to join us to improve their competency and also to upgrade their knowledge in this digital age.  We are a stakeholder of the accounting profession, and we can play a role to assist the Government in its aspiration to attain a developed nation status.

Last about not least, I would like to thank my fellow council members again for their support and cooperation, time and effort spent; and also the support of all members to ensure our Association reaches greater heights day by day.
